17 - Fresh berries
18 - Sliced banana
19 - Honey or maple syrup
20 - Chopped nuts or seeds

# How-To:

01 - Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions and lightly grease with coconut oil.
02 - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and cardamom until evenly distributed.
03 - In a separate bowl, whisk together almond milk, eggs (or flax eggs), melted coconut oil, vanilla extract, and orange zest until fully incorporated.
04 - Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix. The batter should be thick but pourable. Add additional milk if needed to achieve the correct consistency.
05 - Ladle 0.5 to 0.75 cup of batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook according to manufacturer instructions, approximately 4 to 5 minutes, until golden and crisp.
06 - Remove waffles from the iron and keep warm on a serving plate. Repeat cooking process with remaining batter.
07 - Serve waffles immediately topped with yogurt, fresh fruit, honey or syrup drizzle, and nuts or seeds as desired.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • They taste like comfort but actually make your body feel better, not sluggish afterward.
  • The spice blend is addictive without being overwhelming, and that black pepper trick really does something magic.
  • You can freeze a batch and reheat them perfectly in the toaster, turning future mornings effortless.
02 -
  • Do not overmix the batter—I learned this the hard way by making dense, rubbery waffles; lumpy batter actually creates fluffier results.
  • Black pepper genuinely matters; it's not decoration, it's the ingredient that helps your body actually absorb and use the turmeric's benefits.
  • Freeze leftovers flat in a container; they reheat perfectly in a regular toaster and taste nearly as good as fresh.
03 -
  • If your batter seems too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time until it pours easily; if it's too thin, your waffles will be crispy outside but wet inside.
  • Orange zest seems optional but it really isn't—it brightens everything and prevents the turmeric from feeling heavy.
